Pablo Janssens - From Ghent to Chiapas

The Gloria of Gante

Meet Pablo Janssens, a Ghent native with a unique mission. At his finca, La Gloria de Gante, in Chiapas, Mexico, coffee beans are grown and carefully hand-picked each year. Community is central to the finca: farmers are paid fairly, children attend school, and dinner is shared. It's a place where respect for people and the environment comes naturally to Pablo.

A story from bean to cup

Hand-picked, roasted with care

At the coffee farm in Chiapas, everything revolves around quality and respect. Every day, farmers hand-pick the ripest coffee cherries. The result? Honest, carefully selected coffee beans that form the foundation of the unique flavor you experience in this coffee. An exquisite coffee with refined notes of caramel , soft almond , and a refreshing hint of citrus .

Quality coffee, composed with love

Freshness is our top priority. That's why we package our coffee beans with the same dedication as we roast them. We process every order with love and ship it carefully. So you can always enjoy fresh coffee at home. With every sip you can taste the craftsmanship and love we put into it.

The hand of the Master Burner

Creating the right balance in each coffee blend is the beginning of a true love story. A story that begins with the choice of the right beans, carefully selected from the most exotic corners of the world. Blending the different coffee bean varieties, with respect for their origin, is an art that results in a blend in which the unique taste of each bean harmoniously merges.

Fresh coffee every day

Every week, under the skilled eye of our roast master, the coffee beans are carefully treated. With the passion and love of a craftsman, the coffee is roasted according to the slow roast method , an approach that requires time and patience.

By using this gentle roasting method, we preserve the subtle characteristics of the coffee bean, resulting in a fresh, easily digestible, tasty coffee every time.

Mokabon is such an amazing cafe. The staff is friendly and makes sure you aren’t waiting too long. The coffee is top quality - some of the best I’ve ever had. I make sure to keep this coffee in stock at home! The cafe is quite cozy, as it is likely you will be sharing a table with other coffee drinkers in the small seating area. That’s what makes it such a unique place. Highly recommend stopping by if you’d like to expand your horizons beyond Starbucks :) (and you should).

What attracted me to this place is the history with its establishment since 1937. Mokabon is such a charming little coffee shop that captures the essence of a cozy European café. It was a cold late October morning, but once inside, the inviting ambiance and captivating aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. It’s the place to savour an aromatic and robust cup of espresso before starting the day.

A lovely and friendly place for a morning coffee surrounded by locals. The service is excellent with the owner and her team speaking excellent English. They explained their business model, including how they grind and produce their own flavours. A far cry from the industrialised junk of the chain stores. A must see and visit

Great coffee in or out. The atmosphere is great, so it can sometimes be difficult to get a seat. The baristas are very knowledgeable and friendly. I will return for the house blend!

ChatGPT brought me here and I was not disappointed. Cute small cafe just for coffee. I had a short lovely break here from walking around the area. The staff is friendly, the crowd is great and overall nice ambience. Worth a try while in Ghent. Can we have free Wifi please?
